College English

  1. We discussed the first 20 pages of The Road, read to page 30 and tonight you will read to page 58, ending at the phrase “yes, she is.”
  2. We introduced our journals and completed the first section for pages 1-20. The journals have several components and each time you read for homework you need to complete each section. The sections are:
    • Reflections
    • Vocabulary
    • Symbols, Motifs and Imagery
    • Thought-Sparking Questions
    • Questions of Your Own
  3. For each reading you MUST complete a reflection, a vocab section, and add three questions of your own that you have about the text. As things come up you will add to your symbols, motifs and imagery section and as we go along I will give you specific questions to answer for the thought-sparking (TSQ) questions section.

Tonight for homework:

  1. Read to page 58 and stop at “yes, she is.”
  2. Complete another reflection, a vocab section, and add three questions of your own that you have about the text.
  3. Answer TSQ #3

English 12 A

Today we introduced the Children’s Book Project and your story boards are due tomorrow. A story board is a way to plan what each page of your story will look like. We will be in the computer lab tomorrow and it is the ONLY day we will spend in the lab.

English 12 B

We introduced Feminist theory (again, credit to Mrs. Moon for the PowerPoint!) and read a poem called “Listen” by Laurie Halse Anderson to prepare us to start her novel, Speak, tomorrow.
